We design electronics, firmware, and software for connected products.
Bitmask takes connected hardware from first prototype to market: system architecture, production firmware, and the automated test rigs that prove it all works.
How we build your product
A whistlestop tour of our core engineering services
01 / 07
Schematic
The full design is captured as a reviewable schematic — every net, part, and power rail documented, checked, and ready for layout.
PCB layout
Compact, manufacturable board layouts with careful attention to RF performance, signal integrity, and EMC.
Firmware development
Production firmware on Zephyr and bare metal: wireless stacks, sensor pipelines, OTA updates, and power-aware scheduling.
Mechanical design
Enclosures and mechanics designed in CAD, engineered for sealing, thermal performance, and manufacture.
Mobile apps
Companion mobile and desktop apps for pairing, control, and dashboards — turning raw device data into something a customer can use.
Cloud
Cloud back-ends behind the apps: device connectivity, data pipelines, and APIs built to scale with the fleet.
Manufacturing
Designs go to volume with production transfer, assembly-partner management, and custom end-of-line test and calibration.
.. and what they say about us
A few words from the founders and engineers we've partnered with.
Iain Crouch
Managing Director
Urbanminded
We engaged Bitmask to undertake a series of highly specialised and mission-critical embedded software projects through 2019-2024. Sean not only delivered a meticulously-executed and flawless solution each time, but his passion and care for the full hardware platform and industry context added significant value to our full offering. Highly recommended and we hope to work together again soon.
Shawn Green
Founder
Sprudel
[Placeholder — replace with Shawn's own words] The team took the time to understand what we were building and pushed back when it mattered. Communication stayed clear through every stage of the project. We'd bring them onto our next hardware effort without hesitation.
Tariq Hakkinen
CEO
Catch
[Placeholder — replace with Tariq's own words] They moved fast without cutting corners on quality or documentation. Every milestone shipped on schedule, which let us plan the rest of the business around it. It's rare to find a partner this dependable.
Kevin Power
System Architect
CENSIS
[Placeholder — replace with Kevin's own words] Their engineering judgement held up under real deadline pressure. They flagged risks early and offered practical trade-offs instead of just problems. Working with them raised the bar for what we expect from a hardware partner.

Catch
Catch — interactive out-of-home advertising
Catch turns billboards and real-world signage into interactive experiences on nearby phones. We designed the D500 media gateway, a USB-powered long-range BLE and Wi-Fi dongle, and the firmware that broadcasts to devices over 1 km away.

Catch
Flow — real-time OOH audience measurement
Flow measures how many people see an out-of-home ad, in real time. On the same gateway hardware and firmware, we built the detection pipeline and algorithms that filter wireless noise and convert device detections into accurate impression counts.

Consumer LE Audio dongle
A long-range Bluetooth dongle supporting LE Audio and Auracast, built around the nRF5340 + nRF21540 RF front-end for up to 4 km range outdoors. We designed the hardware, firmware, and production test rig.
